Vanier set the tone early with a dominant 27-11 first quarter and held off Briercrest’s attempts at a comeback to secure an 83-73 victory.
The Vanier Cheetahs wasted no time imposing their rhythm, delivering a stunning first quarter where they outscored the Clippers 27-11. Jeremy Lalonde-Hines played a pivotal role, finishing with a double-double of 23 points and 15 rebounds, along with 4 assists and 4 steals.
Despite a second-quarter surge from Briercrest, which saw them outscore Vanier 28-23 and close the gap at halftime, the Clippers struggled to maintain that momentum. Jude Shepherd-Hills was a bright spot for Briercrest, leading all scorers with 24 points and 9 rebounds, but his efforts were not enough to overturn the deficit.
Vanier reasserted their control in the third quarter, limiting Briercrest to just 11 points. Although Briercrest made a late push in the fourth, closing with a 23-point effort, the Cheetahs' early dominance proved too much to overcome.
Solid performances from Pape-Aliou Diouf (16 points, 7 rebounds) and Jason-Junior Ebinumolise (11 points) provided the necessary support for Vanier to seal the win.
