Boomerang de Cégep André-Laurendeau pulled off a spectacular comeback to secure a 5-4 victory over Filons de Cégep de Thetford in a thrilling match at Sylvio Mantha in Montreal. With outstanding performances from Lou-Olivier Charland, Leandre Jodoin, and Ibrahim Sidibe, the home team bounced back from a rough start and took two crucial points in the standings.
A dominant start for Thetford
Filons started the game with an overwhelming pace, showcasing a well-coordinated offense and high pressure in the opponent’s zone. Just a minute and a half later, on a power play, Lou-Olivier Charland netted his eighth goal of the season, reducing the gap and sparking his team’s comeback.
Boomerang kept increasing the pressure, and within seconds, Gabryel Theriault made it 3-2 after a pass from Charland and Jodoin. The comeback was completed at 12:32 when Leandre Jodoin tied the game with a shot from the blue line, igniting the crowd.
Boomerang takes the lead and holds on
Boomerang’s momentum carried into the third period, and at 1:58, Antoine Lussier completed the comeback after a great assist from Ibrahim Sidibe and Yann Nkueze, putting the score at 4-3. Thetford tried to react, but a power play allowed Boomerang to extend their lead with a goal from Anthony Blouin at 13:32, assisted by Charland and Theriault.
Filons did not give up, and Nathaniel Aubert scored on another power play at 18:19, closing the gap to 5-4 and setting up a dramatic finish. Despite Thetford’s final push, goaltender Alexandre Bellemare stood tall with 39 saves, securing the win for Boomerang.
