What started as a close battle turned into a display of superiority. Laval’s team imposed its authority over Concordia with a commanding 74-39 victory, dominating every aspect of the game and shutting down any chance of a local comeback.
The game began with defensive intensity and effort from both teams. Concordia even found early hope with a solid start from Fabiola Lamour, who scored the first four points of the game. However, Laval had other plans. With a rain of three-pointers, led by Elodie Lajoie (4-15 from three, 15 points) and Brinly Holt (3-7 from three, 9 points), the visitors started to pull away. The first quarter ended in a 13-13 tie, but from then on, it was all Laval.
In the second quarter, Lea-Sophie Verret (13 points, 7 assists, 3 steals) took control of the offense, orchestrating a game-changing 21-8 run. Concordia drowned in its own mistakes: their 27 turnovers proved to be an unbearable burden. Meanwhile, Laval capitalized on every opportunity with lethal transitions and smooth ball movement that dismantled the home team’s defense.
The third quarter was the final blow. With a barrage of three-pointers from Frederique Beaudry-B and Sabrine Khelifi, Laval extended its lead to more than 20 points, sealing the game before the final period even began. Concordia, led in rebounds by Serena Tchida (11 rebounds but only 9 points on 3-16 shooting), struggled to find an offensive rhythm. The team finished with a disastrous 11-of-57 from the field (19.3%), including just 2-of-19 from three (10.5%).
The final quarter was just a formality. Laval did not take its foot off the gas and finished the night in style. Rosemarie Dumont and Anne-Marie Babin, dominating in the paint (7 rebounds each), ensured Concordia had no second chances.
With this victory, Laval sends a clear message to the rest of the league: its lethal offense and defensive intensity make them strong title contenders. For Concordia, this nightmare of a night must serve as a lesson if they wish to remain competitive in the RSEQ.
